On a night like this, in a land afar, a dear little baby was born
Such a precious gift, from a God of Love, to a world that was weary and worn
As they looked with wonder upon their child, Mary and Joseph both knew
They could surely trust in a loving God, all of His promises for them would come true.
On a night like this a small shepherd boy, ran from the hillside to see
A little newborn babe in a manger crib, who would set all the captive souls free
And the wise men followed the natal star, that led them to Bethlehem's way
As it was foretold all their eyes beheld, a promise fulfilled on that first Christmas Day.
And the skies rang with the Angels voices, proclaiming the dear Savior's birth
Peace and Hope, God's Joy and Love, for all of the people on Earth
And the skies rang all across the ages, for all to come follow His way
An invitation cast in Love, was born on that first Christmas Day.
On a night like this, a man walks alone, and looks at the life he has led
All the things he did, what he left undone, and he looks at the future with dread
Then a cheerful voice from a passerby, said friend have you heard the good news
There's an empty grave, now He reigns on high, and all that is left is for mankind to choose
On a night like this, there's a frightened girl, who sees a cold world all around
And amid her pain, there are times she's sure, that she's so lost she'll never be found
Then she heard the news of God's loving plan, that all who believed would be new
And as the carols broke on the still night air, she wondered for her, could the promise be true?
And the skies rang with the Angels voices, proclaiming the dear Savior's birth
Peace and Hope, God's Joy and Love, for all of the people on Earth
And the skies rang all across the ages, for all to come follow His way
